Preparing for your Content Shoot

Our Content Shoots are our most popular service. This is partially because EVERYONE needs content, but also because these sessions are super customizable. Wether you want to focus on your product, process, lifestyle or your cat… we’re here for it. In order to ensure you receive the most value and variety from your session there are a few things you can prepare prior to the shoot.

Please don’t let these things stress or overwhelm you! We’ve done hundreds of Content Shoots and it’s our job to come prepared with some ideas, make you feel comfortable and have some fun of course!

Find Some Inspiration

The first step in any photoshoot is to get inspired. When scrolling Instagram, start paying attention to what catches your eye or makes you stop and read. Take a look at your favorite content creators accounts and note what you like about them. As you’re doing this, save images you like to one common folder. Sharing this folder with us will give us a good idea of the type of images you’re drawn to and the aesthetic you’re going for.

Our go-to’s for inspo are Instagram and Pinterest. On both platforms you can easily search keywords and save or screen shot anything that inspires you!

Create a Shot List

This doesn’t need to be a detailed list of 50+ items. All we’re asking here is for you to think of upcoming posts you might like to make so that we can make sure we get the perfect shot for it. Think upcoming holidays/seasons, events, promos, product releases, giveaways, announcements etc.

Your followers love learning more about who’s behind the brand so we love capturing some elements of your lifestyle. What does a day in the life look like for you (or your company)? What are some of your favorite things? What makes you unique? Maybe you pop a bottle of Champagne at 3:00 on Fridays, or bring your dog to work everyday… add these things to your shot list. This is what makes you human, relatable and fun!

Gather Props

We love to have a variety of props to pull from when styling photos. We have some props that we bring to every shoot, but ask that you gather a few things as well. Things like laptops, coffee mugs and fresh flowers or plants are always useful at a Content Shoot.

Gather things that are unique to you as well. For example, if you're an artist bring your paint, brushes, apron and tools. Or if you’re a consultant, bring some business cards, fun pens and notebooks.

Look at your shot list and see if there’s anything else you can pull for a specific image on there.

BONUS POINTS if your props are local and tag-able!

Outfits! Lot’s of Outfits!

The key here is VARIETY. We want your images to last you for months, so in order to make sure they don’t look like they were shot on the same day, bring lots of wardrobe options.

Consider the upcoming season, different aspects of your lifestyle (workout, casual, professional), and most importantly what makes you feel fabulous! If you’d like some help in the wardrobe department, we’d be happy to point you to a couple of stylists that can help you out.

Consider Aesthetics Services

First of all - THIS IS NOT A NECESSARY STEP! But if we had a quarter for every time we heard “oh I’m so pale” or “I should have gotten my nails done before this shoot”, we’d be rich. We wanted to mention this because these are things that aren’t usually thought about until someone with a camera is in your personal space. If you’re going to feel more comfortable with professional hair, make up, tan or nails - you do you!

Second of all - your followers love seeing the real you so if this stuff isn’t you, great. If it is, great.
